Tune So What with Miles Davis on Trumpet, his solo starts at about 0:51.
Of course, Coltrane and Cannonball play on this tune too, but check out the solo that Miles Davis does. It’s simple, but amazing. This solo is very approachable.
Listen to the solo a few times. Write down a few phrases you like. You probably want to start at the beginning.

Hi Neil :
I am confused about the chromatic scale. Would that be the C major scale.
Neal says
Hello Rodney,
I added a recording of the chromatic scale on alto to the scales page, http://saxophonetribe.com/saxophone-scales-harmony/
Try listening to it. It goes with the fingering chart.

Hey Sam,
I would recommend starting with learning the trumpet solo. If you’re having trouble figuring out the first note for the alto solo, it’s going to be very difficult to play. I’ll help you with it after you get the trumpet solo.
